Encompass Health Rehabilitation, a national health care firm, has acquired a 7.31-acre site in Cape Coral for $4.08 million. Birmingham, Ala.-based Encompass Health plans to build a freestanding, 40-bed inpatient rehabilitation hospital on the site, to be named Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Cape Coral. Encompass Health bought the site, at 1730 NE Pine Island Rd., from LG Pine Island and Pondella LLC, according to a statement.

An Encompass representative said as the Cape Coral and Fort Meyers areas continue to grow, and with that comes the need for additional health care services.

The hospital will feature all private patient rooms, a spacious therapy gym with advanced rehabilitation technologies and an activities of daily living suite, cafeteria, dining room, pharmacy and therapy courtyard.
