Grapefruit League Has a New Stadium in North Port Florida

The Braves are celebrating this week the opening of CoolToday Park, a new, $125 million spring training complex in West Villages Florida, an offshoot of the City of North Port in Sarasota County. It’s located about 45 miles from downtown Fort Myers off U.S. 41.

The complex, spread over 90 acres donated by single-family home developer Mattamy Homes, features seven fields, the same as the Red Sox have at the Fenway South complex.

The Braves complex has 11 batting cages, 63 pitching mounds and the centerpiece stadium, which has 6,200 seats and a capacity of 8,000, with 1,800 general admission tickets on a grassy berm and at various drink rails spread around the 360-degree concourse.
